First Lousy Lawyer: The Powell Law Firm

Owned by Paul Powell, his claim to fame "More Lawyer, Less Fees" which I strongly disagree with; I found him to be incompetent, sloppy and downright stupid. What lawyer in their right mind would back date Legal Notices mandated by the Nevada Supreme Court?

Even more surprising, after back dating this Legal Notice, why would anyone, much less a lawyer, mail the Legal Notices via Certified Mail? Not too smart, I would say. Notices, yes plural, there are two. One sent to my wife, the second sent to me.

These Legal Notices are included in this website, look at the date of the letter, read the content. Note Paul Powell's signature. Now, observe the Certified Mail control number on this letter, compare this number to the control number on the mailing envelopes. We have included copies of the envelopes to prove our point.

Does this prove "DECEPTION"? How about "FRAUD"? "LEGAL MALPRACTICE"? Does filing a complaint with the State Bar toll the Statute of Limitations? If you think the Nevada State Bar cares about the General Public, you might just change your mind after reading the information presented here. Documented evidence, no hearsay. How can this possibly be "the ethical practice of law"? (see NRPC 1.1)

My wife received a letter from Paul Powell (12/22/2020) before her 81st birthday, he was obviously upset that she fired his law firm. He stated she has two years from the date of the accident to settle this case or file a lawsuit by June 27, 2021. Failure to do so will forever prohibit obtaining any recovery. He did this willfully, with malicious intent to cause her harm, fully knowing this legal advice was totally false. She went through hell for several weeks before we found out his info was bogus.

The Statute of Limitations on Third Party Claims is two years from the date of the accident. His office settled this part of the case with my wife signing a release on 7/8/2020. GEICO, my insurer, notified the Powell Law Firm on 2/5/2020 our Under Insured Motorist Claim would expire on 6/27/2025. He lied, total incompetence.

Surprisingly, Paul Powell exhibited some wisdom when responding to our complaint with the State Bar, he did not mention a word about the Legal Notices he back dated. In reality, what could he possibly say? It is right there in black and white for the world to see. His signature says it all, same as ours, your name your game. Equally surprising, the highly trained State Bar Personnel found no problem with him back dating these Legal Notices. How do you explain that? I can't understand this.

Let's be honest. You don't have to be a lawyer to see the problem here, backdating any legal document by a lawyer is FRAUD! Anyone with a single functioning brain cell knows that it is against the law, anywhere in the United States. Can you explain why no one on the Nevada State Bar found this action to be in violation of the Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct? When a lawyer commits fraud in Nevada, isn't that a felony?
