LAS VEGAS LOUSY LAWYERS
State Bar of Nevada
What can you expect from the State bar? ("Ethics" from their FAQs)
"You can expect us to treat your complaint with fairness and dispatch. We are genuinely concerned about your complaint and we will handle it as quickly as possible. The Office of Bar Counsel will keep you informed at each stage of your case. If your complaint is referred to a hearing panel you may be contacted by the investigator assigned to your case. You may be called as a witness before a hearing panel. At the conclusion of the case, we will notify you of the final outcome with an explanation of the result."
You be the judge here. Fairness? Dispatch?
Since every attorney licensed in the State of Nevada is required to abide by the Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct, don't you think it is reasonable to expect that every attorney (in private practice and working for the bar) at least, read the Rules? What happened to the State Bar? Looks like they forgot there were rules.
The Bar Investigator assigned to the Paul Powell complaint, Bonnie Lombardo (she is not related to Gov. Lombardo), claims to have years of experience and expert training from the State Bar. More than 10 months went by, she did nothing. Please, can anyone explain to me how she could ignore the back dating of legal documents by a lawyer? Is she exempt from following the Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct? Did she see this problem and report it to Bar Counsel? Isn't that her job?
We sent the State Bar an email 2/16/2024, to the President (Julie Cavanaugh-Bill) and also addressed the President Elect (Richard Dreitzer). We requested their assitance, we got that alright and PDQ (Pretty Darn Quick). Just six days later, the State Bar slammed the door on us and closed the case. They call that a fair and honest review of our complaint. I totally disagree with their results, I expected them to take some corrective action. The email/responses are included, do you approve of the Bar's handling of this case?
